Yin Yoga & Meditation with Dwayne (Online)

Yin Yoga & Meditation with Dwayne - Class Announcement Coming Soon!

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that incorporates principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles of yoga. The sequences of postures are meant to stimulate the channels of the subtle body which are known as meridians in Chinese medicine, and as Nadis in Hatha Yoga.

We use various Yin Yoga postures that apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fasciae and ligaments resulting in the increase of circulation in the body and the organs, along with improved flexibility.

In addition to the postures, these 75 minute classes include meditation and breath work (pranayama). Through the combination of movement, stillness, meditation and breath work, we bring together the awareness of inner silence and interconnectivity. Qualities that are often neglected in the hustle and bustle of modern times. Join a virtual class and experience traditional Yin Yoga in the relaxing setting of your own home.

Hatha Yoga With Dwayne (Online)

  • Hatha Yoga Classes - Class Announcement Coming Soon!

We practice a very traditional form of breath based Hatha Yoga. A style that is experienced through the combination of breath and movement. Through the internalization experience, we are allowed to move into the ideal shape of yourself. Finding yourself within yourself by following your breath, or allowing your breath to direct you. This form of practice is very different than what is currently being taught in most places.

Hatha Yoga is about balancing the polarities. Of balancing the opposites that we have in life. Developing balance in our life. Recognizing the Ha Tha in Hatha … ‘Ha’ represents the sun, ‘Tha’ represents the moon, so Hatha is the union of the sun and the moon. Giving and receiving. Dynamic and static. Strength and receptivity. Heating and cooling. by bringing the opposite polarities into alignment we balance the experience and we find balance in our lives.

The importance of the breath - In this practice we use the breath to establish the posture. The breath guides our movement. Each asana posture that we enter we do series of dynamic postures to establish the posture within the breath, then we perform the posture statically by holding the posture for a series of breaths. This allows us to establish the posture details and to reflect deeper within.

Within a Hatha Yoga class you will experience both active and passive postures. The active are the heating elements ‘Ha’ and the passive are the cooling elements ‘Tha’. This is also relative to the Taoist teachings of Yang and Yin.
