Yoga with Dwayne!
“The success of yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures, but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships.” - Krishnamacharya
Dwayne discovered Yoga in 2020 after several years of practicing and studying other forms of health and vitality through movement, meditation and wellness. He fell in love with the deep richness of the practice of Yoga, a richness and tradition that goes back thousands of years.
By the time that Dwayne discovered yoga, Bev had already been practicing both Yoga and Ayurveda for several years. Bev continues to enjoy the benefits of both of these practices. It just took a bit longer for Dwayne to see the light!
Soon after bringing Yoga into his life, Dwayne knew that he wanted to share the practice with others. He wanted to make it accessible to anyone who has the desire to improve their health and wellness. Everyone should know that Yoga is available to them. It is not about the fanciest pose, or the latest pretty outfit. Yoga is about the union of the mind and body, and as long as you have those two things yoga is available to you!
With that motivation, well into his fifties, the seed was planted for Dwayne to become a Certified Yoga Teacher.
Dwayne is certified in Breath Based Hatha Yoga along with certifications in Yin Yoga & Meditation.
Dwayne studied Breathe Based Hatha Yoga through the Akasha Yoga Academy, located in Bali, Indonesia. Breath Based Hatha Yoga is a very traditional form of Yoga. It is said to be the foundation of most of the yoga practices available today. It is a form of practice that both beginners and advanced practitioners can continually discover new levels of awareness and appreciation of physical wellness.
Dwayne’s studies in Yin Yoga & Meditation were under the direction of Sagel Urlacher. Sagel has practiced and taught yoga for over twenty years. She has studied and practiced meditation under the direction of Thich Nhat Hanh. She is the author of Yin Yoga & Meditation: A Mandala Map for Practice, Teaching, and Beyond.
Dwayne also studied Yin Yoga under the direction of Akasha Yoga Academy where he completed an 80 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training program that led him to deeper depths of understanding not only the physical benefits of Yin Yoga, but also the positive spiritual and self reflection aspects of the practice.
At Sageview, we make Yoga available to anyone who wishes to explore this ancient practice. Everyone can practice yoga, no matter your physical abilities. We practice, and teach, forms of yoga that are accessible to people of all ages, health status and social well-being.
