Life In Pieces

I am of the age where our kids are closer to 40 than I am. I am near 6 decades, and incredibly grateful to “wake up on this side of the grass” as the saying goes. I am healthy, active and very satisfied with moving into the next phase of my life. . . . . .
“This word ‘anti-aging’ has to be struck. I am pro-aging. I want to age with intelligence and grace and dignity and verve and energy.” - Jamie Lee Curtis
Can you say the same? Or are the aches and pains that “come with aging” holding you back. Aches and pains are not a sign of aging, neither is the extra weight, illnesses and disease. These are a result of how life was/is lived. Ouch. It hurts to hear that. It is reality. On the other hand, feeling well and vibrant into your mature years is a result of how life was/is lived.
“The past isn’t always an indicator of the future.” - Myra Lewin, Hale Pule Ayurveda and Yoga
The body is an amazing vehicle. It knows how to heal itself, given the chance and the right path. Have you ever heard the phrase “you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results”? Choosing to feel different on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level requires that we do things differently. It is a choice. Change isn’t easy. It can leave us feeling abandoned and lonely, or free and alive. A matter of perspective.
“Ayurveda is not something we do, it is a way of life.”
Ayurveda is a natural system of health and healing. Ayurveda literally means “science of life”, it is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It originated over 5000 years ago and is even more relevant today than ever before.
Unlike Western medicine, Ayurveda is a holistic science and looks at wellness as a whole: perfect health is defined as a state of balance between mind, body, spirit, and social well-being. We are meant to feel well, from the inside out. Rather than treating only the symptoms, Ayurveda focuses on finding and treating the root cause of disease.
. . . . to say that my life is perfectly healthy on all levels all the time is not true. I am human and life happens. I am grateful to have the tools Ayurveda offers to bring life back to balance.
